Our mission

Film Lauderdale is a full-service concierge Film Commission that provides locations and logistics assistance, issues film permits for 27 municipalities, coordinates with State and Federal entities, offers referral resources, and nurtures local content creators. We are a streamlined, one-stop production shop! The Film Commission’s mission is to attract film, television, commercial, and print production to Broward County, creating economic growth, high wage jobs, and new opportunities for small businesses.

Location

Located in the heart of South Florida, Broward County shares a border with Miami to the south and Palm Beach County to the north and is easily accessed via the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, making it an ideal hub for productions seeking a highly-skilled crew base and some of the most diverse settings Florida has to offer.

Sandy Lighterman

Film Commissioner

As the Greater Fort Lauderdale Film Commissioner, Sandy Lighterman represents the region’s film and television production industry and works diligently to attract production business to all corners of the County. Ms. Lighterman develops key relationships with influential filmmakers, producers, studio executives, and content creators globally.  She collaborates with County and municipal partners to bolster Broward County’s reputation as a film-friendly community.  Additionally, she has made it her mission to nurture local content creators to help springboard careers.

Ms. Lighterman served as Film Florida President from 2023–2026, the State’s non-profit trade association representing all sectors of Florida’s screen production industry, and for more than 10 years has worked on its legislative leadership team. Ms. Lighterman has also served on advisory boards for several educational organizations, including Miami-Dade College, Broward College, and Florida Atlantic University. Throughout her career, Ms. Lighterman has achieved many industry “firsts.” She was responsible for launching Florida’s first local film incentive program in Miami-Dade County, creating the first Emerging Filmmakers Grant offered by a film commission, and developing one of the most robust local incentive programs in the State, offering rebates of up to 30%, during her tenure as Broward County Film Commissioner.

Before her role in Broward County, Ms. Lighterman spent nearly 14 years as the Miami-Dade County Film & Entertainment Commissioner. Before entering government service, she enjoyed a successful 25+ year career as a film and television producer. Ms. Lighterman brings a wealth of industry experience to her position, having produced more than 200 television commercials and music videos as well as television series and independent films.

Christy Andreoni
Assistant Manager

Christy Andreoni serves as the Assistant Manager for Film Lauderdale, overseeing the one-stop permitting process and facilitating production requests between filmmakers, local municipalities and County departments. She supports the Film Commissioner’s efforts to attract production to the region and performs outreach to the local production community to provide resources to emerging and experienced filmmakers alike.

Ms. Andreoni currently serves as the Membership Chair of Film Florida, collaborating with industry professionals, educational institutions, labor unions, and other film commissions on statewide level. Her previous experience working for the Orlando Film Commission, Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission, and on set with various production companies across Florida has led to a unique knowledge base that mixes administrative and production expertise focused on the Sunshine State.

Sierra Gault serves as the Outreach & Marketing Coordinator at Film Lauderdale, focusing on marketing campaigns, social media management, promotional material design, website content research, and municipal outreach. Her efforts serve to support the Film Commission’s mission to attract film, television, commercial, and print production to Broward County.

With a strong background in various facets of marketing centered around the South Florida region, Ms. Gault aims to leverage her years of experience to help illustrate the benefits and capabilities of being part of Broward County’s Film and Television industry.
